Today at work.
-side note, all the cops here wear incredibly crazy uniforms, like feathers in their hat crazy. I digress, so I finally get past all the people shouting, singing, and the marching band to come to BONUS #2!!!!
I must start this next tale with an observation. "Tagging" AKA graffiti has to be some sort of favorite past time in Europe, especially in Genoa. Its literally EVERYWHERE.
The next part of my route take me through Marina Park. This park which was once probably very nice, and full of families has been "tagged" into oblivion. Even the grass has pray paint on it. This is a place you don't want to be at night alone, and as I found out today, you dont want to be alone walking through it during the day either.
As I turn the corner into the park there are two dudes who look like they are on a 4 day heroin binge, and they are feeding what looked like human remains to 2 giant bulldogs. They get all quiet as I walk by and stared at me.....There is a steep stairwell at the end of the park that is about 4 stories tall. I nearly rolled down in it I was moving so fast.
FUN TIME!! This is all on top ofthe fact that its a 45 minute walk each way to begin with.
This was all before I got to the office. Went to the office, then got into my ONSIE, and headed to the ship. Met up with The head of entertainment, and my boss, and we talked about some other things media wise that we have to take care of this week.
That was about it in a nutshell.
Im incredibly tired. I think im gonna hit it early.
ciao my babies!

does any one work around here?
So, got up around 9am today. went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. chocolate coco puffs (holler) a granny smith apple on steroids, and the strongest cappuccino EVER.
Then started our 30 minute walk to the ship yard. Sadly, the route we took this morning was blocked off, so we had to double back and it turned into an hour walk. If you have never been to this country, or this side of the world, the city is basically in a mountain. Its all inclines, and stairs that extend like 5 stories. Its crazy. Needles to say its quite the trek to get from A to B here. AND, at 9:30 in the morning, there were like 56,000 people walking around.
So we got in, did a bit of double checking of our equipment list, then got all our safety gear on and went to the boat. We were checking up on the company that is installing all the media equipment. They are mostly done. They are being help up by the floor guys. They need the room to be finished so they can unwrap everything and we can start a full production test.
We were there for about 2hours, then we left. I have been chillin' online ever since, and watching some fox news. (how bout that SEC porn...)
The big entertainment boss gets in tomorrow, so I'm sure that we will have to look busy doing something then. well folks I leave you with the view from my window and some awesome structure that I passed on my way to work this morning...
ciao!

In Genoa
Well Folks....
I made it. I finally made it. It was a great experience being on an
endless ocean for 13 days. I experienced the most beautiful sunrises,
sunsets, and also a night so starry it was like a blanket with
gazillions of holes in it was covering the bottom of heaven.
stunning.
The two pictures in this post are the view from the front door of my
hotel, and a side view of the ship that I will be on for the next
year.
My immediate boss is still in Texas because of the Volcano, but his
boss is here, and him and I went to our offices near the dock today.
We met with some people that work for the miami office. I also met the
captain. A very tall Russian man.
The company that has our boat hostage, I mean that is building it,
requires strict safety precautions. So I had to get fitted for my
very own deep blue onsie, and steel toe boots. I had to borrow a hard
hat because they don't have any new ones in at the moment.
So once I got all safty-ed out, we headed to the boat. There were at
least 200 people on the ship doing all the flooring, wall fixtures,
walls to be tiled, etc. My boss and I, his name is Ian, went to each
area that we have Audio/Visual equipment in. I went to pretty much
every deck on the ship checking out the various AVL set-ups. We also
went through the bridge and that was straight baller. Diamonds on my
food baller.
We ended at the theatre. The 2 posts before this one have a few pics
of that room. The audio system is installed, flushed, and good to go.
They are finishing up the DMX for the lighting system, and they have
quite a bit of video to do.
And since they still have alot to do, and because there is alot of
flooring, and various things to be tiled, we dont have alot to do on
the boat yet.
so I have been delegated to some administrative work today. I am
compiling a master list of all our loose gear that will be in excess
of installed gear. FUN.
well peeps that is all for this week. I will tell tales of my life in
a foreign land next week!!
ciao!

Day 6 of Cruise
days left. It has been an awesomely smooth trip thus far, and it is
expected to stay the same the rest of the way across the Atlantic.
I have been working out anywhere from 2 to 4 hours a day now. First,
I am trying to drop major poundage. Second, because this boat is
riddled with OLD people! There isn’t a single attractive chick on
this entire boat of thousands of people. It’s a sea of check
squeezers and Ovaltine drinking mo’s. WTF. There are an ABUNDACE of
hot women working on this cruise ship. Like the ratio of hot chicks
to tool-bag dudes, is about 13:2. But as I was already told by
several of them, its against their company policy to “hang out” with
the guests. Gay.
I have lost 5 pounds since I have been on the boat, beast that all
you cruisers!!! I have been in the pool, gotten some sun, watched a
few shows, and watched Land of the Lost in the theatre. (Hilarious.)
I’ve been practicing some guitar, trying to punch out a song before I
get to Genoa, because the first entire month will be safety classes,
and ship info, I wont even get to do what my job is on the boat till
like the last week of May probably. They are real finicky with safety
and what not on cruise ships ☺
So in 2 days we get to the Canary Islands and we are there for a day,
then its 2 more days of cruising along the coast of Africa (preferably
without the bother of Somali pirates) and then a day in Barcelona,
then the next day I get off in Villefranche, aka Nice, France.
I have already hit the gym today, and had lunch, So I think I am
going to hit a beginners French class in one of the bars.
Holler at you peeps later!
